Your challenge
Come up with ideas for an online marketing campaign targeting 18-to-25-year-olds, to encourage at least 10,000 of them to say they would support current or future Guide Dogs' campaigns.
Your entry should:
- be original and creative
- be cost-effective – remember we are a charity
- fit onto a maximum of two sides of A4 paper
- contain between one and five creative ideas of how to achieve the challenge.
- be submitted by midnight on May 31st
Your entry may cover, but is not limited to, the following areas used in online marketing:
- Viral videos
- Email marketing
- Facebook
- Twitter
But remember creativity is key, so think big and prove your ideas are the best way to capture the attention of this audience.
Background
Guide Dogs is a well-known and much-loved national charity, but many young people are not familiar with the extent of its campaigning work.
Guide Dogs campaigns every year to improve the independence of blind and partially-sighted people.
These campaigns are crucial to Guide Dogs’ goal of a society in which blind and partially sighted people enjoy the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
They are often extremely successful and attract a great deal of media attention and the more people who support them, the more successful they will be.
This is where the winning entries will come in – giving successful competitors the chance to be a part of a huge promotional campaign to gather support for politically active campaigning.
Audience information
Research has shown that 80% of young people are quite or very interested in the fact that visually impaired people are sometimes denied right to use restaurants, shops and taxis – which Guide Dogs campaigns about.
This information should help shape your plan – and remember it should be targeted at 18-to-25-year-olds.
This may mean you focus only on university students – but you can spread the net wider if you want. Whatever you decide, just make sure you explain your decision.
And also remember to think about what kind of person, within this age bracket, would be willing to support Guide Dogs campaigns. It’s those people you need to target!
